The Balloon Federation of America's annual

Online Seminar will be available starting

Saturday, April 27, 2019

Registration starts 2/15/2019

By request from many previous seminar attendees, we are providing the 2019 Online Seminar in Video format.  Starting April 27th, viewers will be able to watch pre-recorded video segments at their own pace and in their own timezone (no more waking up at 4:30am on the west coast!).

Of course, the BFA highly recommends that balloonists attend their local face-to-face seminar if possible. We try to schedule the online seminar later in the Spring to allow those who missed a local seminar to be able to complete a course.

We also recommend watching the seminar in groups if possible. The interaction with others often enhances the experience. We know of several balloon clubs and groups that meet somewhere with a big screen and share the experience together.

One all 7 videos have been watched, the participants will take a short test to verify attendance. Don't worry, if you are paying attention you wiull do just fine. Once completed the attendance information will be sent to the registered person's insurance company.

                        Click the “View Seminar” button.

That should bring up a page that looks like this:

The green buttons along the top will allow you to select which video to watch. They are titled with the time of day (central) in which we plan to watch them simultaneously.

I have placed a real-time clock in the upper right to try to sequence your selections.

Remember to adjust if you are in another time zone.

At the listed time, please press the related GREEN button for the video. Then press the “PLAY” button to start the video. It should play within the video box. Make sure you have the sound turned on your computer. The idea is for all of us to watch at about the same time.

You can make the video go “Full Screen” by pressing this button (bottom right of the video box – arrows going outward).

To go back to the split screen, just press the ESCape key. If you are using an iPad, you can touch the screen, press the “X” in the upper left (brings you back to the split screen), and then immediately press the “PLAY” button again to start from where you stopped.

Secret words:

For verification purposes, we place a secret word inside each segment. Look for those to come across the bottom of the screen during the videos.

NOTE: The secret word is only displayed once in each session, so stay alert and write it down when you see it.

Ask Questions:

If you would like to ask a question, type it in the CHAT box on the right side of the screen. Type next to the “pencil” and press ENTER. Other people will see your name listed next to your question. You will see the names of people who are commenting:

question

EVALUATION AND TESTING:

After the seminar is over, you will be able to press the TAKE THE TEST button to complete the evaluation form, and then take a short quiz (don't worry, it will be easy if you are paying attention) to verify your attendance.

For those watching as a group, each registered person will need to take their turn completing the evaluation/test. The system will allow you to cycle through when each has completed. We really value your opinions and will be using this information to help make our seminars even better. The evaluations are sent anonymously and separate from the test results.

What if I can’t watch all day?

Since the sessions are all provided via recorded video, you do not necessarily need to watch them in order, or even on the same day. You would only miss the interactive portion. Just try to finish in a week or so.

If you have problems:

If you need help, please TEXT me. That is the best way for me to communicate during the seminar. Be patient, because we may have others that need help as well.
