2018 US Women’s Nationals
2018 US Women’s National Championship Announced
The Waterford Area Chamber of Commerce, WindDancer Balloon Promotions and the Balloon Federation of America are proud to announce that the 2018 US Women’s National Balloon Championships will be held in conjunction as a part of the 8th Annual Waterford Balloonfest located in Waterford, Wisconsin. The Balloon Federation of America’s Hot Air Balloon Competition Division voted unanimously to award the Championship to Waterford based on a bid which reflected the overall quality of all factors associated with an established event and festival.The effort to obtain the championship was led by Ken Walter, owner of Wind Dancer Balloon Promotions who serves the organization as the overall Event Director. Ken indicated that factors such as organizational strength, flying area, community support, locality to major population areas, time of year and volunteer base are all considered in the award of the event.
The US Women’s National Championship will run July 18th through the 22nd. The 8th Annual Waterford Balloonfest will add additional hot air balloons to the mix beginning on Friday, July 20th and running through the weekend. For additional information, contact any of the following organizations:

Introducing Balloon Golf!
The BFA Hot Air Competition Division is excited to announce a new game for HACD members; Balloon Golf! This no pressure, just for fun, self scoring system is modeled after the game of golf. The game is as easy as 1, 2, 3! Plan it! Fly it! Score it! Pilots play by selecting their own targets before flight, flying to the targets, dropping a marker, and then scoring their results based on the Balloon Golf scoring system. Don’t have a target? A hat, cone, glove, or whatever you have counts as a target! Or, simply declare a physical point of reference as your target before launch, for example, the southwest corner of a parking lot. Pilots (or crew) measure the result and fill out a scorecard. The scorecard is then sent to the HACD for inclusion on the Balloon Golf Leaderboard. Pilots can play alone or in groups and can choose go to one target per flight or as many as they would like. Balloon Golf is about having fun and self improvement, give it a try!
Not an HACD member but you want to play Balloon Golf? It’s ok! In order to submit your scorecard to be included on the leaderboard you must be an HACD member, but anyone can play!
Download a scorecard off of the BFA website under HACD – look for the Balloon Golf tab – and give it a try! We think you will enjoy the game of Balloon Golf!
